Emotional Intelligence

Leaders with high “emotional intelligence” (“EI”) know themselves well, and can recognize when their emotions are influencing themselves and those around them.  Further, they can read the emotions of others accurately, and are able to influence them emotionally..  Daniel Goleman popularized this approach to understanding a critical interpersonal competency.  CEOs who know they could do better in this area and are determined to do so can build EI skills.
