HELP US RESEARCH HOW LEADERSHIP INFRASTRUCTURE HELPS MIDSIZED COMPANIES SUSTAIN THEIR GROWTH

Our last research project culminated in publishing Mighty Mid-Sized Companies: How Leaders Overcome 7 Silent Growth Killers (Bibliomotion, Boston, MA September 2014).  It was based on the research findings from over 100 interviews.  Now, on to our next topic: Leadership Infrastructure.

Growing companies can be victims of their own success. When they get the growth they so desperately seek, they may just as quickly outgrow their leadership infrastructure, rendering the business chaotic and inefficient.

Business schools don’t teach classes in building leadership infrastructure, and it is not a natural skill for most. Many midsized executives shun it, equating it with big-company bureaucracy. Midsized companies are always the victims of insufficient leadership infrastructure, because small firms don’t need much, and big companies already have it. To transition from small to big, you must build your own leadership infrastructure. Read about this concept in my this issue of The Insomnia Factor: What Keeps CEOs Awake at Night and What to Do About It.

CEO to CEO, a management consulting firm and mid-market thought leader, is focusing a research effort on how midsized firms built their leadership infrastructure—both what worked and what didn’t. Robert Sher, Founding Principal, will direct the research, building on his own experience as a CEO and midsized company management consultant. Willing mid-market firms (revenues $10M to $1B) will be interviewed either by Robert or one of his researchers.

THE BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING

Companies that participate in the research effort will be entitled to a private post-research briefing with Robert to share the details of the research and key findings.  With written permission from the people we interview, success stories may be a part of published articles.

CONFIDENTIALITY

The interviews are confidential.  Any articles/publishing from the interviews will be approved and fact checked by the subject prior to publication.  Case studies may be disguised if preferred.

WHERE CONCLUSIONS WILL BE PUBLISHED

The learnings from of the research work are delivered in several places.  Most immediate is on my Forbes.com column.  Here is one example of that.  Deeper articles come out several times a year in my newsletter.  And of course, these learnings may find their way into my future book on Leadership Infrastructure as well.

ABOUT CEO TO CEO

CEO to CEO, Inc. improves the skills of the leadership team of mid-market companies who are navigating major shifts in their business or marketplace. We help these CEOs and their top teams rapidly elevate their game and lead their companies to the next level and beyond.

We work with the senior-most executive at companies or divisions with revenue from about $20 million to $500 million that are facing significant opportunities and challenges. Our clients are very talented CEOs who nonetheless feel they are still learning their craft; realize their company’s performance depends on improving their own performance; and want to enhance their skills rapidly and on the job.

Robert Sher, Founding Principal of the firm, is a columnist on Forbes.com and has published nearly 200 articles about mid-market business leadership and has written a book titled The Feel of the Deal: How I Built my Business Through Acquisitions.  As an operating CEO, he successfully acquired and integrated four companies.

If you are or were part of senior management in a mid-market firm (revenues 10M to 1B) and encountered some or all of these issues, please contact us and be a part of our research.  All discussions are confidential.  Phone: 925-829-8190, E-mail: j.brown@ceotoceo.biz
